I get told/asked this a lot. Honestly, 8 years ago I had to do a lot more digging than I do now. My go to grocery store was Woodman’s and that was about a 40 minute drive from where I live. But, it was worth it because I found what I needed and Costco was starting to bring in some things also. When it came to eating out, you pretty much just opted for no bun or ate a salad. The only thing I really needed to stay away from was breads, pastas and deep fried things.
Fast forward to now and I’d have to say eating gluten free is pretty easy. Most restaurants, I guess depending on where you live, have gluten free alternatives. Usually I still just stick to the salads though. More and more grocery stores have gluten free alternatives and even a dedicated section. It leads you to eating healthier, which brings you to eating more veggies and fruits and protein. Eggs were my best friend! Ask my husband and kids, I ate eggs all the time. No I didn’t make them eat gluten free, they would eat certain things. I would make omelets twice a day! Let me tell you though, you can still eat potatoes! I absolutely LOVE tater tots and french fries and hashbrowns and mashed potatoes. Guess what potatoes are gluten free! So, you don’t miss out on everything. You can still eat tortilla chips, sweet potatoes, red potatoes, yellow potatoes, russet potatoes, purple potatoes, ALL the potatoes, eggs, fruit, vegetables, beef, grilled chicken, steak, grilled or baked fish, heck….you can buy gluten free Oreos and Chips Ahoy now! You can buy gluten free pizza crusts and breads now, even burritos! Here’s the downfall…….it isn’t cheap.
Which brings me to this….why I’m here. I want to help you with your cooking and your baking. I’ll have some recipes across this blog and different types of flours and how to use them. I know flour can be expensive as well but it’ll be better than buying your loaves of bread.
